چکیده

ITP is a rare disease, characterized by increased platelet destruction/suboptimal production; patients with have an risk of bleeds and disease management complex. We aimed to evaluate the current treatment paradigm for chronic primary assess impact on healthcare resource utilization in six European countries (DE, ES, FR, IT, NL, UK). Interviews were conducted 23 physicians 12 payors (June/July 2020) supplemented separate survey 113 further validation using published data. These data used build flow model patient management, therapy line severity depletion, determine costs associated managing acute bleeds. From responses, it was estimated that across all countries, ∼27,000 adults diagnosed 2020 (prevalence, split severity: ∼34% mild, ∼32% moderate, ∼33% severe). Physicians reported most (60%) receiving first-line or monitored their physician; second-/third-line accounted 40%. Approximately 75% (corticosteroids common) relapse within 3–4 months; stabilization achieved thrombopoietin-receptor agonists (TPO-RAs) rituximab. Patients could switch alternative TPO-RA control symptoms, manage side-effects improve adherence. The rescue therapies hospital services (e.g. surgery admissions) majority resources Serious life-threatening ∼40% bleeds, which cost approximately €16,000–24,000 €28,000–41,000 per event, respectively. Consistent recent ASH guidelines, favored use TPO-RAs earlier pathway avoid costly Physician interviews/survey indicated following decline response, switching can help maintain long-term potentially reduce both hospitalization costs.
